Assistant Cloud Accountant – Norwich

Role Overview

  • At Assistant Cloud Accountant stage you are expected to develop efficiency in producing work to deadlines whilst establishing/building new/existing skills learned throughout your studies.
  • The role demands the ability to speak to communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, clients and other contacts. You will report directly to managers on most assignments.
  • The role requires some supervision for more complex areas, to be provided by the team supervisor, but a good Assistant Cloud Accountant can carry out most day to day tasks autonomously without help and will be able to manage their own workflow/deadlines with some support from a supervisor.


Principle Responsibilities:                                                                                                     

  • Show a good level of competence in maintaining the books and records of client’s and producing accounts up to a trial balance position.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness in carrying out analytical review of financial information accounts and start preparing assignments to a good Trial Balance position, needing minimal adjustments following review.
  • Show initiative in clearing routine queries with client and suggest sensible conclusions
  • Consistently show a good level of knowledge in preparing basic VAT returns.
  • Help to train and brief junior trainees with basic job instructions, including delegating small tasks.
  • Can assist with regular queries from trainees, including demonstrating relevant software.
  • Confident and professional in dealing with client queries and seeking information from clients.
  • Show an interest in the factors important to clients’ businesses.
  • Adequately deal with a varied workload: prove flexibility in skill range.
  • Ensure organisation and ability to work with minimal supervision: self-motivated.
  • Keep team supervisor informed of assignment progress and/or problems.
  • Continue to seek help and support with queries beyond current knowledge or competence.
  • Continue to seek additional tasks to broaden knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrate ability to adhere to compliance procedures: i.e. follows instructions, makes clear notes and follows outlined procedures.
  • Start to voice suggestions to team leader for improvements to clients’ systems and procedures.
  • Can be relied upon to talk to team colleagues professionally and is an established office team player.


Person Specification:

Work based competencies:

  • Achieved AAT Level 3, Studying AAT Level 4 (or CIMA if a graduate) or possible to be qualified by experience.
  • Good telephone manner, email communication skills and customer service levels.
  • Excellent IT skills, knowledge of cloud based accountancy software a significant advantage.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
