Corporate Strategy Associate – London

Price Bailey are currently recruiting for a Corporate Strategy Associate to join their unique and fast-growing Strategic Corporate Finance (SCF) Team in London. The SCF team works with high potential businesses and plays an integral role in achieving growth of anywhere between 3 and 10x in value. This highly commercial client facing role would see you partner with owner managed businesses of all sizes and will focus on facilitating commercial and personal aspirations of the funding team via creation of in depth growth strategies; this could include raising funding, acquisitions, R&D investment or new market ventures. Due to the varied scope of this role, it would suit people of multiple backgrounds such as strategy consultants, PE/VC Analysts, corporate development managers, corporate financiers or even lawyers with commercial corporate experience. This role can provide the successful candidate with incredible professional and personal development so ambition is an absolute must

Your typical duties would include but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with clients along with the engagement partner to really get under the skin of the business, to understand the commercial and personal aspirations of the client and to help create solutions in tandem with the wider Price Bailey SCF team
  • Developing genuine working relationships and earning the trust of clients – this would require regular proactive contact
  • Working with clients to devise commercially robust growth strategies to achieve scale and increased shareholder value – confidence to question the realism of forecasts and to push back where needed is critical
  • Managing multiple complex client projects; within this you would be responsible for creating detailed project plans, expectation management and workflow management for the project team
  • Providing first hand support throughout the fundraising process from cradle to grave – i.e. creating pitch documentation and presentations and supporting on deal negotiations with Banks, PE and VC houses
  • Proactive identification of networking and marketing opportunities for both the SCF team and Price Bailey as a whole

The ideal candidate would have substantial Project Management experience wherein they have been responsible for co-ordinating multiple moving parts. A highly strategic mind-set and the ability to see the big picture of how a plan creates value whilst having an awareness for what details are material/immaterial is absolutely crucial due to the nature of the role, as is a proven ability to pass the litmus test of securing funding for strategies. Within this, we would expect to see examples of creating investment plans, business plans, forecasts and maturely going through an investment governance process. Owing to the fact that this is a highly visible client facing role, applicants must show the potential to be a strategy facilitator by directly interacting with clients in a face to face setting; relationship development is key. Further to the above, a solutions focussed approach to problems and resilience in the face of difficulties will be required. Those who are able to adapt to an ever changing landscape will be at a distinct advantage.

Given the multidimensional nature of this role there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ candidate. If you don’t believe that you meet every aspect of the job criteria, please don’t let this hold you back from applying. We are more interested in your personal qualities, your engagement, your enthusiasm to learn and progress in the areas that may be weaker, and that you care about providing value to clients. If you think this role is something that will get you out of bed every morning and excited about the day ahead, then please apply.

This really is a unique opportunity for a progressive individual to join a fast growing team whereby you can have a genuine impact from day 1. If you are passionate about business and want to make a difference to a wide range of interesting organisations then we would love to hear from you
