The team

The Tax team work with clients across a broad spectrum, from high net worth individuals through to family businesses, large corporates and not-for-profit entities. The team has an international presence and offers compliance services for complex clients through to delivering exciting projects of an advisory nature.

You will undertake some corporate tax compliance work for our most complex corporate clients, but the majority (approx. 80%) of your time will be spent on a range of advisory assignments, including (but not limited to) corporate reorganisations, incorporations, share schemes, R&D tax relief, capital allowances, loan relationships, intangible assets, property transactions, tax due diligence and other adhoc tax projects.

The role

As a Corporate Tax Supervisor / Assistant Manager you will have ownership of the following tasks:

  • Undertaking and supervising corporate tax compliance and tax advisory work so that it requires minimal manager/partner review.
  • Planning jobs, instructing juniors and reviewing their work, ensuring the provision of constructive feedback at all times.
  • Providing effective tax planning advice to clients, both directly to clients and via Audit and Accounts team portfolio managers throughout the firm.
  • Controlling assignment budgets, WIP and assignment recoveries.
  • Displaying pro-active awareness of current relevant legislation, tax opportunities and risks, relating them to client situations.
  • Attending and contributing to both internal and client meetings and calls.

The person

You might not have all of the experience below, but if you meet the minimum criteria and are passionate about developing yourself, we’d love to hear from you:

  • CTA qualified (minimum criteria)
  • A tax background including both compliance and advisory experience (minimum criteria)
  • A thorough understanding of UK taxes that apply to small and medium sized enterprises and their owners, in particular companies and individuals
  • Experience of supervising and reviewing the work of juniors
  • Experience of using tax software and Microsoft packages
  • Experience of WIP management
  • An accounting qualification and/or an understanding of statutory accounts
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
