Corporate Tax Supervisor – London

Role Overview

  • To work as part of the Tax Consulting team providing support to colleagues on tax based projects, including Corporate reorganisations; Incorporations; Share valuations; Share schemes; R&D tax; Capital allowances; and Other ad-hoc tax projects.
  • The role of a Supervisor is a significant career stage normally achieved as a result of an individual proving consistently strong technical, job management and client relationship skills at Senior level. 
  • This stage of career development tests the individual’s ability to ‘juggle oranges’: reviewing and finalising reports/advice for manager/partner review whilst overseeing a range of assignments and monitoring work in progress.  
  • The role is also suitable for those working in a specialist role in support of a partner, director or manager.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • To assist a manager in the planning, control and review of larger, more complex assignments.
  • To ensure assignments are progressing competently and in line with commercial targets set.
  • To complete client assignment files for minimal manager or partner review.
  • To act as the main client contact on behalf of a manager/partner for selected client assignments.
  • To supervise the team including monitoring work in progress and compliant work standards.
  • To motivate and mentor the team by effective communication, constructive work assignment feedback and effective job appraisal.
  • To assist the manager in team communications including identifying problems and suggesting solutions.
  • To assist the manager (exceptionally a partner) to help clear client correspondence and client queries.
  • To research to a high level all tax legislation relevant to an assignment and discuss uncertainties and opportunities with the manager/partner.
  • Review of Help Desk queries prepared by more junior team members.
  • Preparation of reports and advice ready for manager/partner sign off.
  • To be consistently competent in the assessment and risk as demonstrated by effective assignment planning with the manager/partner.
  • Displays strong and pro-active awareness of current legislation and changes, relating them where appropriate to client assignments.
  • To demonstrate the skills of planning, delegation and control in supervising a range of work assignments.
  • To demonstrate an excellent rapport with clients enabling a manager/partner to entrust and delegate client communications and correspondence.
  • To prove suitability to develop to a future manager by demonstrating commercial awareness and control in assignment budgets, WIP and assignment recoveries.

 

Person Specification:

Work based competencies

  • CTA Qualified with experience in a similar role
  • Strong client management skills with a proven ability to manage a portfolio

Personal Based Competencies

  • Good IT skills
  • Confident, articulate and able to communicate well with all levels (internal and external
