IT Manager

Role Overview

Responsible for assisting with the maintenance, development and improvement of the firms IT systems and being accountable for the smooth running of the department including planning and resource allocation for projects and system upgrades and ensuring these are completed in a controlled and timely manner


Principle Responsibilities:

  • Managing the technical team with a hands-on approach.
  • Supporting the Systems Engineer with the day to day functioning of servers and systems.
  • Prioritise, plan and control IT projects.
  • Assist with regular maintenance of the firm’s systems.
  • Assist the Systems Engineer to control, plan and deploy new functionality to the firm’s systems.
  • Suggesting system improvements and further developments.
  • Control, monitor and upgrade applications in conjunction with the Systems Engineer.
  • Provide technical helpdesk support for escalated tickets from the internal and external support team as required.
  • Initiating and facilitating documentation of the firms systems.
  • Willingly share knowledge and experience to increase others skills i.e. explain how the results is achieved for      future use by others
  • Liaise with Department Head bringing any problems to their attention and offering solutions


Person Specification:

Work based competencies

  • Project Management experience
  • SQL experience
  • Hands on experience in a Citrix environment would be beneficial
  • Working knowledge of document management systems (DMS) – currently using iManage
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Office 365
  • Remote servers

Training & Development:

  • Internal on the job training will be provided as required.  This will be done by the team member most qualified in the area being trained in.
  • External formal training will be provided at such a time as it deemed to be required and of benefit to the team and the team member.
  • The team member is encouraged to identify training that they require to facilitate their job and to bring it to the attention of their line manager and the head of the department
