Private Client Tax Supervisor – Mayfair

Role Overview

  • Working as part of the established Tax team based in Mayfair will see you undertaking both compliance and advisory work for a range of exciting and demanding clients. The role of a Supervisor is a significant career stage normally achieved as a result of an individual proving consistently strong technical, job management and client relationship skills at Senior level.
  • This stage of career development tests the individual’s ability to multi-task at both compliance and advisory work, managing a client portfolio and training and developing other team members

 

Principle Responsibilities:                                                                                                     

  • Effectively control work assignments, delegating to more junior team members where suitable
  • Ensure client assignment files progress in line with commercial targets and are completed for minimal team leader or partner review.
  • Supervise and motivate the team including monitoring work in progress, providing feedback and ensuring compliant work standards are met.
  • Assist the management team in team communications including identifying problems and suggesting solutions.
  • Help the team leader (exceptionally a partner) to help clear client correspondence and client queries.
  • Identify client work requiring specialist skills, referring matters to PB specialists as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate an excellent rapport with clients enabling a team leader/partner to entrust and delegate client communications and correspondence.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and control in assignment budgets, WIP and assignment recoveries
  • Look pro-actively at client situation with a view to fee development for compliance/added value/specialist work.
  • Manage WIP for own portfolio and ensures timely issue of relevant fees
  • Act as main point of contact for selected client assignments

 

 Person Specification:

Work based competencies:

  • CTA Qualified with relevant experience in Private Client Tax – specifically with non-dom experience
  • Competent in materiality and risk assessment in relation to client assignments.
  • Monitors work flow of the team and reviews files to ensure technical and compliance standards will be met.
  • Recognises complex technical issues requiring reference to specialists and seeks specialist advice.
  • Displays strong and pro-active awareness of current legislation and changes, relating them where appropriate to client assignments.
  • Displays flexible technical skills to deal with the range of client assignment queries raised within the team or resulting from client correspondence.

Other Information:

  • Core business hours 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9:00am – 5:30pm)
  • Travel will be required across the region to be at clients’ premises for our normal business hours
