Semi Senior Accountant – Sawston

Role Overview

  • Semi seniors are expected to be technically sound and keen to acquire broader technical knowledge through more diverse and challenging assignments. Semi seniors should have the ability to work closely with the more senior members of the team and be able to prioritise and complete the work delegated to them

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • To undertake a range of book-keeping tasks and assignments
  • Demonstrates a reliably high level of competence in finalising all moderate to larger assignments direct to supervisor or team leader.
  • Clearing basic queries directly with client and suggests sensible conclusions.
  • Demonstrates good standard of general tax knowledge to complete the accompanying tax computation accurately.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of assignment plan, instructions and time budgets before assignment begins and briefs team member accordingly.
  • Co-ordinates workload with senior, supervisor or team leader, giving regular updates as to assignment progression.
  • Reviews own work thoroughly before attempting to seek finalisation of file
  • Completes work demonstrating up to date technical knowledge and good judgement, saving supervisor or team leader time.
  • Demonstrates on-going technical and job knowledge development by discussing the application of new knowledge to client situations with team leader/partner.
  • Uses initiative to minimise team leader/partner time on resolving most on the job client assignment queries.
  • Makes suggestions to supervisor/team leader for improvements to clients’ systems and procedures.
  • Makes suggestions for increasing the efficiency/cost effectiveness of the assignment, including risk and materiality analysis and use of appropriate team members.
  • An assertive communicator giving clear and effective instructions/feedback

 

Person Specification:

Work based competencies

  • AAT Fully Qualified/ACA Part Qualified.
  • Up to date working knowledge of VAT
  • Experience of using  Sage, Xero and Quickbooks Online would be preferable

  Behavioural competencies

  • Confident, articulate and an effective communicator at all levels
  • Well presented and professional
  • Good IT skills
  • Communicator: knowledgeable and assertive communicator commanding clients’ and colleagues’ respect.
  • Organiser: think ahead, effective planner
