Charities and trading Seminars

Following our ‘Income innovation’ series in December, our March events explore the thorny issue of charities and trading and explain the basics.

Our seminar will look at the terminology used – primary purpose, ancillary trading and general trading. It will also address the various income streams and activities that a charity can undertake without having to set up a trading subsidiary.

In addition, we will specifically cover fundraising events, small trading exemption and common questions and queries arising. So you will understand when is a trading subsidiary necessary and how gift aid/deeds of covenant work.

Many charities are starting to look at different income streams to generate funds, so we will help you to understand if the charity can generate this income in its own right.
