Tax, VAT and Accounting, a charity update

The SORP will be changing in 2019, and early adoption is allowed. During these seminars, we will update you on the key changes coming and what you need to prepare for, as well as tackling gift aid payments from subsidiaries.

After an extended delay, HMRC has published updated guidance on the thorny issue of distinguishing between grant income and contract income. We will summarise the guidance, focusing on the factors indicating whether a payment is a grant or consideration for a supply. We will also update you on new relevant cases and changes in VAT.

Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT will apply from April 2019 for VAT registered charities and their subsidiaries whose UK taxable supplies exceed the VAT registration threshold of £85,000.

What do you need to know to be ready for this change?

HMRC have provided clarification on which digital records need to be kept and very importantly for charities when manual adjustments will still be acceptable, so we will help you understand how to comply.
