Price Bailey wins prestigious British Accountancy award for Outstanding Community Engagement and Contribution

Price Bailey has won the British Accountancy Award for Outstanding Community Engagement and Contribution. The firm was also highly commended in the Graduate and Non-Graduate Programme of the Year award category. The British Accountancy Awards are recognised as the industry’s most prestigious accolades and awarded to firms which have demonstrated excellence in the profession.

Price Bailey won the Outstanding Community Engagement and Contribution award in recognition of the firm’s PB Inspires programme, which encompasses its work with local schools as well as its all-year-round charity fundraising activities. Price Bailey was shortlisted against five other organisations.

Partnering local schools with a disproportionate number of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, Price Bailey’s PB Inspires initiative has been devised to inspire the next generation of workers who might otherwise struggle to find employment.

As well as motivating young people, PB Inspires also provides the opportunity for their own employees to develop their confidence, mentoring and coaching skills – all valuable assets in the workplace.

PB Inspires also coordinates all the firm’s charity fundraising activities; Price Bailey have recently finished a two-year partnership with World Child Cancer which resulted in over £107,000 being raised and already in their new partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK they have raised over £37,000.

The PB Inspires programme has received highly positive feedback from both students and participating Partners and staff.

  •  88% said the PB Inspires activity had increased their knowledge of business
  • 84% said the activity had raised their aspirations for the future
  • 79% said the activity had improved their confidence

Price Bailey Partners and staff:

  • 100% said taking part in PB Inspires equipped them with skills they can use in their work
  • 70% of employees who were surveyed said PB Inspires improved their view of Price Bailey as their employer
  • 90% of employees felt more confident as a result of taking part in PB Inspires

James King, CSR Partner at Price Bailey on winning Outstanding Community Engagement and Contribution: “Winning the award was recognition of the great work we as a firm do with our local schools in partnership with Vision path and the money we raise each year for our chosen charity. In fact, winning the award came on the same day as our annual charity day where across the practice we hope to have raised at least £15,000 for our charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Research.”

“The PB Inspires programme is currently being run in Bishop’s Stortford, Cambridge and Norwich schools and due to its success and the strong uptake, Price Bailey is looking to expand this into other regions.”

The Graduate and Non-Graduate Programme of the Year award recognises excellence in developing a business-led training programme which uses 21st century learning options and innovative ways to attract, retain and develop younger generations to the accountancy profession. Price Bailey was highly commended by the judges, one of only three highly commended awards to be made on the night.”

Patrick Philpott, Founder and Managing Director of Visionpath, adds: “We’re delighted our collaboration with Price Bailey has been recognised with this award. In only its first year, PB Inspires has upskilled hundreds of school students in the firm’s communities and will continue to improve the skills and life chances of many more young people. We’re immensely proud to partner with Price Bailey on this inspirational programme and the award underlines the impact PB Inspires has made, as well as the firm’s commitment to the next generation in East Anglia.”

Nadia Khan, HR Partner at Price Bailey on receiving highly commended for Graduate and Non-Graduate Programme of the Year:

We are delighted that our hard work over the years developing our approach to attracting and nurturing emerging talent has been recognised through our highly commended award at Accountancy Age Awards – being beaten to the top spot only by KPMG.

We are especially pleased because our bespoke programme – enabling our talent to develop their own unique contribution to the success and growth of our practice – is so aligned with our focus on long lasting and meaningful client relationships. We would like to thank all our teams for their contribution to this award and for making Price Bailey such a great place to work.
