Stuart’s professional experience

Having been at Price Bailey for 24 years, Stuart has worked in both the Audit and Assurance Team and the Business Team. In 2020 he was promoted to Partner and appointed as Head of our Payroll Department. He is also a member of the firm’s Senior Management Team. Read more about Stuart here.
What are Stuart’s qualifications and areas of specialism?
Stuart is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a testament of his extensive experience and long-term commitment to the industry.
He is also one of Price Bailey’s qualified coaches, with an ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring.
Sector involvement and insights
Beyond his expertise in payroll, Stuart has 35 years of accounting experience, particularly in supporting owner-managed businesses. He currently acts for a number of barrister clients, ranging from new entrants to the bar, to King’s Counsel.
Stuart has contributed his opinions and industry insight on payroll to national publications such as The Financial Times and The Mail and was recently a guest speaker on The Payroll Podcast where he discussed people first payroll, automation and AI.
He has also been a panel member at The Association of Bureau Managers annual conference, in London in 2023, and Manchester in 2025.
In 2025, Stuart was named in the Reward Strategy Partner 50, which recognises the top 1% of pay and reward leaders nationally, for the positive impact he has made in the payroll profession.
