Launching Bridging the Divide – The Second Edition

Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty and an evolving political landscape, Bridging the Divide 2026 explores how the UK’s political leaders, and the businesses that rely on them, view some of the country’s most pressing issues, including tax reform, Parliament’s support for business, and the wider economic outlook.

Building on the success of last year’s well-received report and drawing on responses from more than 100 cross-party MPs and 500 British Business Leaders, Bridging the Divide 2026 offers exclusive survey findings, context, and expert business insights from leading accountants and business advisers, Price Bailey.

Uncover where business and politics align and where they diverge.

Key Findings:

  • Parliament’s Understanding and Delivery: For the second consecutive year, Business Leaders have greater confidence in Parliament’s understanding of, and delivery for, business than MPs themselves. However, views vary significantly across different sectors.
  • Tax Reform: MPs and Business Leaders continue to differ fundamentally on the priorities for tax reform.
  • Regional Differences: Attitudes towards Parliament’s support for business vary across the UK, with respondents in the South East, North East, and North West expressing the most positive views.
  • National Minimum Wage: Contrary to much of the public debate, the average Business Leader is not opposed to the National Minimum Wage increase. Sector-level findings show that some businesses actively welcome the rise.
