Richard has over 15 years of experience providing tax compliance and advisory services to domestic and international clients on all UK tax matters. Richard is a chartered accountant, a fellow of the association of taxation technicians and a chartered tax adviser. Today, Richard leads Price Bailey’s tax offering and has led the continuous development of the team, expanding our expertise in areas including both VAT and tax investigation services most recently.
Richard’s technical capabilities as an advisor to businesses in the owner-managed market speak for themselves, winning institute and professional body awards including the Regional Prize for Audit and Assurance ICAEW paper as part of his ACA studies and achieving a Distinction for his CTA paper in Advanced Corporation Tax Advisory. In addition, Richard won the Student of the Sitting award for Cambridge. This annual award is given to individuals who have shown outstanding qualities in their particular region when studying for their relevant financial and accountancy qualifications. These qualities have gone on to see Richard become a distinguished tax advisor both in his region and in the broader tax community.
Endorsing his innate ability as an expert problem solver, in 2023 Richard became a member of British Mensa, the world’s leading high IQ society.

Richard’s breadth of professional expertise sees him advise on all areas of UK tax relevant to businesses and their owners. The extent of his knowledge means Richard’s content spans a broad range of tax topics. He specialises in demystifying areas of more complex tax legislation or relevant tax strategies which form part of a broader objective to impact clients and support growth and value creation. These include options for incentivising key employees, obtaining tax efficient investment opportunities for investors, and preparing for family successions and other sales of a business. He is also a regular commentator for tax matters in agricultural businesses including on diversification and the sale of development land.
Richard is a frequent commentator on the tax implications for owner-managed businesses following the Spring and Autumn statements.
Richard is well-known in the industry and has been invited to speak at IAPA conferences on a diverse range of topics, including both transfer pricing and international tax, and crypto currency.
He has also been quoted in industry press, including for Accountancy Age where he has been featured in articles discussing HMRC tribunal disputes and the COVID-19 VAT holiday.
